Carlie woke up in a room by herself. The room wasn't that big and there wasn't much furniture. Looked like it could be a living room. She looked down feeling some type of discomfort only to see that she was tied to a hard, wooden chair. Carlie was confused at first before thinking back to what happened last. The last thing she could remember was being snatched after coming out of the bathroom at school. Her thoughts came to a halt when she heard footsteps.
"She should be woke by now, unless you killed her. How fucking hard did you squeeze her?" he asked.
"Not hard. I didn't strangle her or nothing, just put my hand over her mouth." he replied. They walked into the room Carlie was held captive in to see her looking confused.
"James?" Carlie said with a little anger in her voice making him cringe at the fact that she called him by his real name.
"I am your father." he replied matter-of-factly.
"No you're not." She said low. "Why am I here?" she asked with an attitude.
James chuckled "Just like your mother. See, I want Nicki back and she wants me."
"She doesn't want you." she said with furrowed eyebrows.
"Yes she does."
"No. No she does not. Kidnapping me isn't going to make her want you."
"I just want to talk with her again and taking you would make her want to come get you. My buddy David just wants some money." James said. David stood in the corner listening to him explain the plan to this little girl. He started to think about how dumb this was but if it works and he could have the requested money, he didn't care.
"That's so stupid. You're going to go to jail." David laughed at his friend being told off by his 7 year old daughter. James moved closer to Carlie and grabbed her by her hair. "You just shut up and roll with every thing." Carlie kicked until she hit his jewels. James let go and cringed at the intense pain before saying "Keep acting like that and by the time she gets here she'll have to be on a new mission to find your body."
The police arrived 20 minutes after the call was placed. "Hi I'm officer Steven. Ma'am, can you describe your daughter in the most clearest detail?" he asked.
"She's 7 years old, light skin, about 4'3, she has long black hair that's pulled back into a ponytail, she's wearing a pink and black Hello Kitty shirt with pink shorts and pink Polo shoes, she might have her iCarly book bag with her." Nicki explained still in a panic but calmer than earlier because of Safaree's reassurance that they'd get her back.
The officer wrote everything that was said down. "Is there a possibility that she could've ran away?"
"No she didn't fucking run away! She doesn't have any problems at home." Nicki got offended by that. Safaree tapped her on the shoulder and stepped in before Nicki cussed this man out. "Sir, her school called to inform us that they have security camera footage of some strange person taking her. They said we come to the school to see it." he informed.
"Okay we can meet there. Where is it located?" Officer Steven asked. Safaree gave him the address then got in the car with Nic to head to the school.
"I don't think I can do this Safaree. Like I don't think I can look at the footage of my child just being taken away like that." Nicki said.
"If you find it hard to watch then just look the other way. I can answer any questions they have."
"Thank you Safaree." she sighed "I just don't know who took her, I feel horrible."
"It's okay Nic, we'll find out who did it and trust they will pay..." Nicki shifted in her seat at the last part. "Please don't do anything stupid to get yourself in trouble."
They pulled up to school a few minutes after Officer Steven. Safaree got out the car then walked over Nicki's side to help her out of the car. She said a silent prayer as they walked into the school together. You could see the remorse in the staff's faces as they look at this couple whose child could be anywhere right now. They were led to the security room.
One of the security guards was describing what was going on in the video to the officer. "Here she is coming out the bathroom and here's the guy in the black hoodie." Officer Steven stopped him "Can we zoom in on his face some more?" They zoomed into his face as he was exiting the building with the tiny 7 year old in his hand. Nicki sat there straight faced as she tried to make out the face, it wasn't that clear.
"Does he look familiar?" the Officer questioned.
"No..no at all." Nicki looked down.
"Any family members? Friends you could've angered? Exes?"
"No. None of my family lives here, I moved here about a year ago..." Nicki sat thinking but suddenly got angry. She turned toward the school's staff "Where was the fucking security at? Why wasn't there nobody by the doors? How did this man get in so easily without being noticed? This is supposed to be a "better" school but parents can't even send their children to school to learn without feeling that it's not safe?"
"We are so sorry, really we are. We've bulked up our security for all parts of the building to prevent this from happening again." The principal stated.
"Of course you're sorry but is any of that shit going to bring my daughter back?" Nicki was enraged.
"Nicki calm down." Safaree coached.
"Don't tell me to calm down, Safaree." Nicki snatched away from him them stormed out the room. Safaree trailed behind and found her standing outside the door in tears. He pulled her into his chest, Nicki accepted the gesture.
Officer Steven came out the room looking for the couple. He patted Nicki on the back. "I'm going to take the footage with me to examine it more. If you have anything that can help the case, you can call this number" he handed her a card with the number on it.
"Thank you." Safaree thanked the officer then grabbed Nicki's and led her to the car.
"So that's it? We just wait?" Nicki asked with an irritated tone.
"That's all we can do Nic. They're going to do the best they can."
"So you expect me to just sit on my ass while anything could be happening to my child? Get the fuck outta here. This whole time it didn't seem like you cared. Walking around all nonchalant because she isn't your child."
"Are you being serious right now, Onika? I love that child just as much as you do. 'Cuse me for trying to keep it together so I can stay strong for BOTH of us. I understand that you're upset but cussing everybody out and trying to make them feel like shit is not going to solve anything." He was pissed at her comment.
The ride home was silent. Nicki didn't say anything back to Safaree, she knew he was right. They both sat and said silent prayers.
Nicki gazed out the window, deep in her thoughts. She went over the past few days for things that she's missed. All of a sudden her eyes went blank, she staired ahead at the road. She grabbed Safaree's arm and he gave her a "what the hell is wrong with you?" look. All she could say was "James."
"What about James?" Safaree was irritated at the mention of his name. "Safaree. SAFAREE. JAMES!" She kept saying.
"What Nicki?" He was getting worried now.
"He must've taken her, Safaree! He had to!"
"Where does he lived?" Safaree questioned in a tone that kind of scared Nicki.
"Fuck! This is all my fault! I should've never went to meet up with him. My baby could be safe at home but my dumb ass had to go anyways." She banged her fist on the dashboard.
"NICKI!" He stopped her from her rambling. "It's not your fault, he's been sick in the head from the start. He obviously had this planned out. Now where does this nigga live so we can go get out child back?"
"I don't know if he still lives at 1208 Conner Street." Nicki replied instantly.
"That's like a hour away, all the way on the other side." he stepped on the gas. "Let's go."
The whole drive had them both on edge. Once they pulled up to the house that Nicki remembered suffering much in, it made her stomach turn. In this house she was abused by a man she once loved. Sometimes he'd come home hours later with a bouquet of flowers and give her a kiss on the cheek like everything was okay. She fell back into his trap. He was a monster. She thanked God for finally getting out and thanked him for meeting Safaree. He shows her what real love is supposed to be.
She hadn't noticed Safaree getting out and walking to her side to open her door. She looked over the small house, it mad her more appreciative than she already was of her current living state.
They house looked dark. No lights were on and no car was parked in the driveway. Safaree banged on the door as they both stood to the side so they couldn't be seen through the windows. Safaree took Nicki's hand and walked to the back of the house. No sign of anybody in that house. Nicki sighed as they walked back to the front.
"Hey!" a neighbor called. The couple looked his way. "Looking for that guy?" he asked.
"No fucking shit." Nicki said, not loud enough for him to hear though. "Haven't seen him recently." the man continued.
"When was the last time you seen him?" Nicki asked.
"Oh, about Saturday night. He was with his friend I guess." replied the short and stubby man.
"Thank you." Safaree said before pulling Nicki to the car.
"Oh God Safaree. What are we going to do?" Nicki said with her face in her hands.
"Let's just head back to the house and call up the guy to tell him that we have a suspect."
Nicki sat back to put her seat belt on then put her hand over her head. They headed back to their house that was a hour away. It was getting late and food didn't even crossed their minds. Nicki sat thinking about how Carlie was probably starving right now. No matter how much Safaree told her that this wasn't her fault, she still felt it was.
They pulled up to their house some time after 8pm. Safaree walked to her side to help her out the car. "You hungry?" he asked.
"I can't even ingest anything right now." she replied.
He walked her to the front door but stopped once he seen a piece of paper taped to the door but the knob.
It read:
I just want to talk. Let's make a fair exchange: you come over with $100,000 in cash and you can have your child back. No funny business either or that will cause problems for someone's safety...
Comment! Tell me whatcha like, whatcha don't like, what you think is gonna happen next etc. etc.
